To: Alexander Badalov

Thank you very much for teaching me for the past couple of years at The Rivers School Conservatory. I really appreciate all of your hard work with me to become a better cellist with lots of musical ideas and sophisticated music making. I am thankful for all the time and effort that you give to me in each lesson. Our lessons are always really enjoyable and yet extensive learning experiences.

One aspect that you have helped me with is my bow technique. We work on how to get the correct style of bowing for each passage in a concerto. For example, in Elgar we are working on the spiccato for the fast movement and learning how to create a richer and deeper tone for the cadenza in the beginning of the piece.

Also, we work on  pitch. You make sure that my pitch is up to the highest standards and you don’t let anything go unnoticed. I really idolized you as an extraordinary cellist.

With appreciation,

Celeste McGinty

Kim Stevenson Tutaj

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

The list of people our family appreciates at The Rivers School Conservatory is too long to enumerate. The girls’ individual teachers give them an amazing musical education and serve as mentors, often going above and beyond. Their conductors have provided a much needed source of togetherness in safe conditions in an impossible year. Everyone at Rivers has brought their energy and creativity to making this year a musical success – master class workshop opportunities, continued piano rehearsals and recitals, remote and in person recorded concerts and ensemble playing. The only thing we missed so much was the greater community – and treats after recitals and concerts. We cannot wait to see the other RSC families again, and listen to everyone’s kids, watching and hearing them grow.

The Wilkins family

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

Thank you to Whitney Tandon for a wonderful year at orchestra. I love playing in prep, and will remember being a part of it.

Julie Wilkins

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

Dear Ms. Lindsey,

Thank you so much for your incredible knowledge and dedication. Our lessons, whether virtual or in-person, are always a highlight of my week. Your wisdom around music, composers, background information, nuances and around life itself is incredible and inspiring and has helped me grow and become a better person, musician and pianist. You have given me so much and I couldn’t be more grateful. From Rachmaninoff to Bach, I have loved learning from you and our working together. I cannot wait for more.

Fondly,

Christopher

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

Dear Mr. Lowry,

This year being our first year at Rivers, we are extremely happy and thrilled to have you as Amal’s cello teacher. From day 1, I see so much passion and love in your teaching which sends such a positive loving vibration to the students. Your genuine love of arts shows in every action of yours. As a dance teacher, I felt like I should take some of your methods of correcting students. At the same time you have the trick of bringing the best out of a kid. You take pride in all the music that kids bring. Amal has such a personality that he blends and gets to improve with an encouraging but still assertive teacher like you. You are always responsive and take time to reply to us or reschedule if needed. Best move for us this year, Thank you for everything.

Kalpana and Bala (Amal’s Parents)

Dear Bill Jones,

Thanks for spending so much time helping me improve my saxophone skill. I truly appreciate you reviewing my junior districts recording and also my high school band audition recordings. I wouldn’t have made it in either if it wasn’t for your help.
