By special invitation from the Boston Landmarks Orchestra, The Rivers School Conservatory’s ChamberMusicLab is taking over a prime summer evening concert slot at the Hatch Shell on Boston’s Charles River Esplanade! Three CML ensembles will perform on the renowned outdoor stage Saturday, August 10 at 7 p.m., furthering the Landmarks Orchestra’s mission of creating community through great music and promoting young musicians.
“Our incredible CML students couldn’t be more excited for this concert. They have been studying and performing their works since last fall, so this concert is a celebration of a year’s worth of hard work and artistic growth,” says CML Director Jason Fisher. “What an inspiration it will be for them to share their music with Boston on a beautiful summer evening from the Esplanade main stage!”
The music is certain to inspire concertgoers as well. CML is the most competitive chamber music program in New England, providing a quasi-professional experience that teaches both the musical and the interpersonal insights required for success as a chamber performer. Ensembles spend the entire school year exploring and performing a single piece, indicative of the program’s emphasis on quality of learning rather than quantity of repertoire.
At the August 10 concert, CML ensembles will present the following program:
W.A. Mozart: Trio in E-flat major, K. 498 “Kegelstatt”
I. Andante
Mikhail Glinka: Trio Pathétique in D minor
I. Allegro moderato

The high-school musicians who make up the CML ensembles spend every Saturday morning at RSC, working with each other and with their coaches, building relationships along with musical proficiency. In addition to serving as CML Director, violist Jason Fisher is a founding member and co-artistic director of the Grammy-award-winning chamber orchestra A Far Cry. A Carnegie Hall Fellow and a Peabody Singapore Fellow, he has toured Europe, Asia, Kazakhstan, and the Kyrgyz Republic, and has given concerts at Vienna Musikverein, Singapore Esplanade, The Kennedy Center, and Carnegie Hall. Principal violist of Boston Baroque, Jason plays period viola with the Handel and Haydn Society, Trinity Baroque Orchestra, and The English Concert, among many others. At the August 10 concert Fisher will perform a duo with cellist Will Parkes, a newly graduated CML student who begins studying at New England Conservatory this fall.
Founded in 2001, Boston Landmarks Orchestra presents programming aligned with its guiding principles of highlighting the vast diversity of orchestral music, connecting Boston’s many communities through music, and creating musical experiences for everyone.
