Please join The Rivers School and The Rivers School Conservatory to bid farewell to director David Tierney after 26 years of dedicated service.
During his 26-year tenure at The Rivers School, he revived and directed the chorus and winter musical programs, coached the varsity golf team, expanded the summer academic offerings, introduced the internship program for musicians, and advised Upper School students on their academic, musical, and personal lives.
As Director of The Rivers School Conservatory and Chair of the Performing Arts Department, he has brought the school to new heights. He established an adult community orchestra, the Rivers Symphony Orchestra, now in its 22nd season, facilitated the construction of Bradley Hall, and transformed The Rivers School Conservatory, tripling enrollment to over 900 students. In 2003, he pioneered The Rivers School’s Conservatory Program, providing students with the opportunity to balance both musical and academic studies within a nurturing and supportive community.
