RSC Evaluation Week
End of year evaluations are held in May and are required for all non-adult private lesson students who have been taking lessons since the fall semester. Students who began lessons mid-year may do an evaluation but are not required. Teachers will discuss specific requirements and preparation with their students for their evaluation.

Find out more »RYO Concerto Competition Deadline
The Rivers Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition is open to students enrolled in the Rivers Youth Orchestra program only. Two winners will be chosen to perform with the Youth Symphony (full orchestra accompaniment) or Philharmonia (string orchestra accompaniment only).
Students are required to play one movement of a concerto of their choice from memory with accompaniment. For the audition, the piece should not exceed 8 minutes, so cuts should be made if needed. Winners will be allowed to perform whole piece for the concert at the discretion of the Conductor/Music Director. All contestants must have their concerto approved by RYO conductor Christopher Memoli before entering the competition.

Each year, RSC presents a three-day festival of student recitals, guest performers, lectures, master classes, and presentations all focused on contemporary music. Works performed in the seminar must be composed within the last 25 years so the students and audiences hear, play, and learn the music of their time.

This week long seminar is a perfect opportunity for percussion students to refine their playing skills through a combination of classes and private instruction. There will be daily master classes, Mallet Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Drum Circle on hand percussion, performance class and a final concert.

Summer Music at Rivers is a two-week summer program for students of any wind, string, or brass instruments, and piano. Emphasis is on community, and all students are placed in a chamber ensemble with students of similar ability. Summer Jazz at Rivers is a two-week immersion into jazz studies for students entering grades 3-12; however, younger students may be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Both students new to jazz/improvisation and more experienced players are welcome.

Summer Orchestra
Get ready for the school year with a week-long morning program for string players of all levels! There are no auditions and students are placed in one of three string orchestras after the first day. In one week students learn repertoire and prepare for a final concert on Friday at 11 am.
