Jazz Trumpet
Tony D’Aveni is a Boston based jazz trumpet player/ teacher who studied jazz at University of North Texas. He has received two National Endowments for the Arts grants to study with John McNeil and Jerry Bergonzi. He has also studied with Randy Brecker, Dave Liebman, Hal Crook, Carmine Caruso, Bobby Shew, Tim Hagane, Laurie Frink and Don Jacoby.
Tony has played with Hal Crook, George Garzone, Danilo Perez, Art Farmer, Jeri Allen, Donny McCaslin, Steve Johns, John Blake, Bobby Shew, Rufus Reid, Artie Shaw Big Band, Al Vizzutti, Rob McConnel, Phil Wilson, Billy Pierce, Bob Moses, and Jimmy Dorsey Big Band.
He has recorded five CDs as a leader: “Home at Last,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Hip Displacement,” “Broken Hip” and “Alone with Duke” and is the author of 7 books: a series of five books published by Charles Colon titled “Jazz Trumpet Technique: Volumes 1- 5” and “Jazz Basics” Vol I & II
